Lord Shiva was reported to have taken birth as Hanuman to Anjana and Kesari. He is supposed to have been born at the Anjaneri mountain, located 7 km from Nashik city in Maharashtra, India.

The story about the birth of Hanuman is as follows: Anjana, a celestial maiden, was born as a she-monkey in order to beget Hanuman. In order that she might be freed from the curse, she was told that she would conceive an incarnate of Lord Shiva and he would be a divine child. Therefore, Lord Shiva descended as Hanuman to help Rama in his task.

Hanuman, who features in the Ramayana, with his unwavering devotion for Rama, fearless devotion to him, and unmatched physical strength in the form, jumping across the ocean to reach Lanka to search for Sita and help Rama in the battle against the Rakshasa king Ravana).
